Canyonlands 1/2 Marathon!

Moab Canyonlands half marathon was so fun! March 22nd, 2009. Went down with the family for the weekend and stayed in Uncle Steve's condo (thanks Uncle Steve!). Had a blast and loved that Winter was just ending...it was so nice and warm down there. The hard part of it was that I had been training and used to colder weather, so when the race day came it was pretty hot! I think I overheated a little during mile 6 or 7 and had to keep pouring water on my head. I cooled down a little after that, but woooey...soooo hard to run your best when you feel like that. Ran it with my mom and sister Tiff. Even though I had super tight hamstrings and problems with the heat, my mom had a hurt back, and Tiff had a hurt foot, we all were able to do well and feel pretty good after all.

Oh, the things we do for running!I just finished waving to Taylor so my form here looks pretty funny!

Here are the stats...

Division Place: 35
Gender Place: 120
Overall Place: 443/4000
Time: 1:45:24
Pace: 00:08:03

Happy with my time, however while I was training, I was consistently running under an 8 minute pace...so goes to show how much the heat and some tight hamstrings can hold you back.

Rex Lee Run 10K!

Rex Lee Run March 14th, 2009! Even though I don't have much to say about this one other than I love running with Taylor and it was good to be a part of a good cause. We had fun with this one and ran a good pace. I don't remember our time exactly but know it was under 50 min. I think it was 48?

Funny story...We saw this lady in this race running with her dog who she was harnessed to and it looked like at the beginning of the race, the dog (which was pretty big) was pulling her! Then we saw her at the end of the race again and this time she was the one doing all the pulling...her dog was pooped tired!Aren't we cute?! Matching and all?!!
Tired :) Getting those carbs back in the body.

Boston Marathon!!!

The Boston Marathon! Wow I can't believe I really made it here! The marathon of marathons! April 21st, 2008... a super busy time in life, when I was engaged (trying to get the invitations done), graduating, and during finals week (I luckily had supportive professors that all let me take my finals a week early)...ALL worth it! So much fun! My mom and dad paid for the airline ticket as my graduation gift. My mom came out with me so I wouldn't have to be all alone. :)

We stayed with a great member family who lived in Boston that took great care of us. We did some sight seeing the days before the marathon, but mostly relaxed and really enjoyed Boston. What a beautiful old city. Great historic background and neat to visit the different places that mean so much to the history of this great country.

I had a great time just being with my mom, but oh how I missed Taylor too! I'm talking to him on the phone (above) here. Below is a pic of my mom and I in front of the Boston Temple...another great place to be of course!

Here's some pics of race day!...

My friend Mary Kay and I qualified in St. George and so fun to have this experience together!

Here's my times broken down even more...I loved that they did this for not only me to see when I was done, but they also had this texting option where anyone who wanted to follow my race times could get a text at every point. My dad and Taylor were able to get updates on how I was doing...Cool huh?!

Snow Canyon 1/2 Marathon!!

The Snow Canyon half marathon was so fun! November 17th, 2007. I honestly wasn't trying my hardest for this one. I was down in St. George for the weekend with friends and Jenna Harlan signed up to run this one with me as well as a few other friends in Provo. It was one of Jenna's first and I wanted to be a good support for her so I ran with her to the end.
The highlight of the run was that during this time Taylor and I were dating. He surprised me by running halfway up the canyon to meet me and take pictures and then he ran all the way back down with Jenna and I! So really he ran the 1/2 marathon and it was even harder for him because he ran UP the canyon! We pretty much just ran down the canyon the whole time except for a small mile or two you have a little detour going up. He is amazing and I knew he was the one for me during this trip so it will always be a special one.

Here are the stats...

Age Division: W 19-24
Division Place: 7
Gender Place: 42/177
Didn't give me overall w/ both genders...?
Time: 1:50:03
Even though it was a decent time, I really felt like I could have done a lot better...however, I wouldn't trade the fun experience I had running with Jenna and Taylor for a better time. I loved that weekend!

St. George Marathon!!!

I finally got in! I had been trying previously to make it in the raffle, but never got in until now! Wahoo! The St. George Marathon is special to me because it reminds me of my mom, who's ran it 14 times! She is such an inspiration to me! She has helped me with running tips here and there that help me to push myself and give me added mental strength. I am grateful for her.

This one's for you mom! St. George Marathon October 6th, 2007!

Here Tay is giving me a well deserved calf massage...hurt so much but oh so needed! Thanks Tay, my number one fan! Love you!

Cache Valley Triathlon!

My first triathlon! I competed in the Sprint distance which is 1/2 mile swim; 20K bike; and 5K run. August 4th, 2007...so I had just been home from my mission for 4 months! I was excited to get back into shape as I had gained 20 lbs. on the mission! I wanted to run, but also wanted to get into biking...and especially into triathlons. I wasn't much of a swimmer though so for BYU Spring semester I took the beginning swimming class. So much fun and wow I learned a lot! I'm so glad I took that class and was finally able to learn the technique of swimming. I found that the swimming part wasn't my favorite part, but I really enjoyed the whole thing that I want to do many many more!!!Here's the stats...Bib #: 2021Age: 24

Provo River Trail 1/2 Marathon

I ran the Provo River Trail 1/2 with my friend Ryan Kelly. I wasn't planning on doing it because I was leaving soon for a mission, but decided it would be fun. I had a blast! Even though I wasn't as well trained because of it being more last second, it was practically all down hill so that helped I think :)
